Positivity....

Okay, so I should be doing laundry right now, but i'm not going to feel guilty about it, i'm gonna feel great about it. Do you ever feel like there is something that you need to share with everyone cause it is amazing (besides the gospel) well, I was reading a great article in a not so great magazine and they were talking about the book "The Secret". I had seen about five minutes of Oprah when she did her thing on it, and was interested but that passed as I got busier and busier in my life. So as I read the article, I remembered that I wanted to read it, so I went online and ordered it from the library and waited for it to come. When I received it, I knew hardly anything about it, but thought it might be a little off base with our religion, so I was very careful to be aware of how I felt when I was reading it. Anyways, as I got through more and more of it, I felt good and more interested. It was more in line with the church teaching than I thought it would be, it was a very interesting read, of course it was very non denominational and not very religious, although several comments were made about the bible and god. The jist of it was being positive. The Law of Attraction and how when we are negative, negative things are attracted to us, and when we are positive, positive things are attracted to us. It is not doctrinal, so you have to take out of the book the best parts right. It talks about controling our thoughts and being grateful and thankful and happy with what we have and we will attract more into our lives. It's an interesting concept anyways....and I think i'm going to change my way of thinking. I'm taking from it what I feel is inspired of our Heavenly Father and I'm going to run with it. Anyways, I just felt I should share this as it has been on my mind the last couple of days!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well I must say, I love the smell of rain and the feel of sun, and we have had a mixture of it for the last couple days. This week has been a busy one so far with hair and house, and cleaning.
My parents are coming up tomorrow, and then we are off to UTAH to my cousin Marks wedding. Its a quick trip that will start Thurs night and then End Monday night, with a lot of shopping and fun in between!!! My cousin Mark and I grew up together in Horsefly and were pretty good friends until they moved to Utah, so I'm excited to see him married and happy! Mark (my Mark) bought a GPS for the trip and then we got it home and it didn't have any US maps on it, so being as stubborn as I am (cause it was such a good deal) I decided to figure out how to download them from the internet onto it. Anything can be done these days it seems on the internet. So I cracked it and installed everything and it works great!!!! So now we won't get lost in Utah...now I just have to figure out how to upload the millions of Points of interest that are in the US. (The picture above is me on the left and my cuz Mark on the Right)
(This pic is him dressed up as Santa at one of our many Christmas parties, he would kill me if he knew I posted it!!!!)
We also get to see my little bro who is on his mission in Idaho, we get to take him and his companion out to breakfast!!!! So that will be lots of fun!
Scrapbooking has kind of slowed down these last couple weeks as I finally finished our trip to England and Denmark. So now I'm starting on Kolby's baby book, and find that getting started is the hardest thing to do. So I need to crack down on it.
Our lawn is getting so nice and green from all the moisture, and I am truly thankful for it!!! I love to see the blossoms on the trees and the green green grass. We bought camping lounger chairs from costco, and they are awesome, they fold into a small bag and are wicked comfortable! I love to sit on my deck when the kids are playing in the back yard, and soak up the sun on my lounger or read a good book. The weather has actually been nice enough to do that the last couple of days!! We truly are BLESSED!
Well I should probably go tackle my laundry.
Just Bloggin....
So this week has been fairly uneventful, unless you count the foot deep snow drift on my front lawn that won't go away. Every day I get up, look out my window and pretend it's green and warm and sunshiney and leaves on the trees and the whole works, then I try not to look out the window again. Oh, where are the days of sunshine and pina coladas oh wait, that was never my life haha. I wish (maybe a virgin pina colada). So Mark and I went to Calgary on a date last Friday, as the snow storm was hitting, and man, it was nice to get away, we went and watched a movie and sat in the lounge at moxie's and just enjoyed ourselves....course we stayed out until late, (our poor babysitter) I don't think we got back until midnight! Oh well, i guess this is what livin on the edge is...domesticated style...stay out late, sit in the lounge, drive in a snow storm....sad sad sad. But we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Well This is what I picture when I look out my window every morning, and I guess it's gonna have to do for now! I never thought I would ever want to go back to Horsefly, but right now they have beautiful weather and lots of sunshine, so maybe it's not so horrible after all.
The Poser
So when My aunt Terri and I aren't doing her hair, we are taking pictures, she came out last week to get her hair done and brought her awesome new camera, and decided to experiment with Taylor....Of course, Taylor, being Mark and I's daughter loved every minute of it. She posed for everything, she even gave Terri direction in what she was going to do. It was fun!
Kolby will never forgive me if he walks by and sees his sister but not him, so i'm posting one of his half smile poser poses (it's about as good as it gets with him)!
Here is one of Mark and I, I finally got him to smile!
The real Truth
Okay, so i'm looking through my blog, and Tae comes over to see what is going on, and to ask me to read them a book (something I try to do at least once a day) and she sees the pic and tells me what really happened. So she put him on the bed and left the room, then he fell into the drawer. But before she told me she prefaced it with "please don't tell dad okay, cause those are bad words...right mom" So I guess sooner or later the truth comes out!
It's nice to have Livi and Guy stay with us.
Poor Tynen, stuck without us even knowing it.
I couldn't believe he even fit in it! He was not impressed when we ran to get the camera instead of getting him out!
SPRING IS HERE!
Well, the blossoms are on the trees and the tulips are starting to come out! We had a good and busy week this week. Lots of people in and out, and running around. It was a slow week for hair (well I guess slow compared to my last few, but still had quite a few people through) which is good, keeps me on my toes right. My kids were sick, between Ty teething, Kolby with a nasty cold and Taylor waking up with the flu this morning, it was nice not to be incredibly busy. I was pleasantly surprised to find comments from people other than Christal and Dawna (I love your guys comments!) Hey KIM, long time no see! (kim is my cousins wife) well, we had Livi and her bfriend Guy from England stay with us for a couple of nights, it's always nice to have guests, as much as Mark and I are busy, we love to visit, and be social.
The kids can finally get outside and enjoy the backyard. So that is nice for me to be able to send them out there all the time! (or at least when I'm sick of them being in the house! which is almost all the time:))
Taylor said to Mark the other day, "daddy I love you, but you are getting on my last NERD!" so I guess I need to start editing what I say if I don't want them saying it to others!
I think I'm gonna put Taylor in Dance as everytime we put music on, she gets on her tippie toes and tries to do ballet. We thought about putting Kolby in too, but he mostly just gets up and beats her down and it turns into a big wrestling match!! Too funny, they both have their own dance style, and unlike their dad, I think they might have rhythm! This week we heard Ty crying in Taylor's bedroom, and just thought he was lonely, so we ignored him for a bit, then Taylor ran out breathless saying "quick quick, Ty needs you" so we went in and found that he had fallen into one of the drawers and was stuck. It was kinda funny in a bad parent kind of way (which I admit to be in all the meaning of the words!)
Well, I finally succeeded in getting our England/Europe experience scrapbooked! Felt like it took forever because after we moved I didn't do it for a long time. I forgot how addicting it truly is. I'm tackling Kolby's scrapbook next as he cries everytime Taylor pulls out hers and looks at it and brags about how she has one and he doesn't. ( I guess they get the competitiveness from me! It'll be good when they play BBall!) So I'll get on that next!
Well, I'm gonna try and do this every week, but no promises!
Easter At Gwilliams!
Great Weekend!!
Well, since we sold Pippen, I guess we needed to replace him with something for the kids, so while we were at Costco (yes I finally talked Mark into a Costco card, which probably wasn't a good idea because of the money we spend when we go in there) Mark decided that to keep himself in shape he was going to buy bikes and bike trailers. So we did and the kids love it (although they still ask for Pippen, Kolby said today "the man that took Pippen isn't good, he needs to bring him back now" so sad) so we try to remind them that it's not that bad, since we have ridden our bike almost every day this week (when it has been nice, cause I don't go outside in below zero weather) and they love it, and it's a great workout for us, so double bonus. So I guess it was a good trade, or so Mark and I think. Other than that, life has been busy as usual. I got a Piano (well really a weighted keyboard) for my birthday, so i've been practicing up on my piano skills. I forgot how much I really enjoyed playing, so right now, I'm trying to master the Phantom of the Opera's "Music of the Night". Needless to say, it keeps me busy. But I do love the piano, and hopefully, i'll be able to start teaching Taylor and Kolby how to play. They have already been asking me, so I think between that and the bike rides, we'll keep a happy balance in their lives!
Spring Fever!
Well, here I am sitting in the house once again, not going outside for probably awhile longer as we got another dump of snow in Vulcan this morning. But I guess that's the breaks of living in Canada. As I look out the window and notice that it is still snowing, I can't help notice the spring fever that our entire house is feeling. We have been so antsy to get out, that Mark bought bikes and bike trailers from Costco, and we took them out yesterday, and the day before (before the snow fell.) We did have some nice weather for awhile, and kind of got used to it, especially about the part when the kids spent most of the day outside. Even if most of the time they spent it running away from Pippen. So now I guess that we just have to suck it up and get used to it. So as I sit here wondering when spring is finally going to come, (even though the blossoms are out on the trees) I will just have to remember the beautiful weather that could be, and is somewhere besides here!!! So I must say that I suppose we need to have the crappy weather to appreciate the good stuff! Here is a reminder of nicer views than that from my front window!
ODE TO PIPPEN!
Farewell to Pippen!
Well, as most of you know, we decided to get a dog for the kids for Christmas this year. We got a Labradoodle (half lab half poodle) his name was pippen and was an awesome dog, very gentle with the kids, and very mellow. We thoroughly enjoyed him until he started to really grow, quite big actually. Not that I don't like big dogs, I think that we have decided that we like big dogs, but not unless we live out on an acreage or farm. I guess it's quite different than from where I grew up. Well we fell in love with him anyways, and he became part of our family, much to our chagrin, the kids aren't old enough to really take care of a dog, or treat it great for that matter. I think they thought that because he was big enough they could bully him. So that is kind of what they did. We also found that because we travel so much, it was tough to find him a place to stay. I never thought I would get a dog, let alone an indoor one, so I even surprised myself in that he became a part of our family. So it was a difficult decision, (I think more so for Mark and myself than the kids as they hardly even noticed) to let him go. He was a great dog for us, and I guess maybe we are dog people, (just not yet)! So we found him a home (but not before we got some great pics) in Saskatchewan with a bachelor who will probably be his best friend and devote time to spend with him. We hope he loves his new home.
Doing Hair...
Well, okay, so I kinda feel like a slacker... my sis in laws keep asking about my blogspot, and I feel dumb cause I only have one post. So here goes another one.
So, I work out of my house part time doing hair, and love it, it's kind of like a sanctuary for me. I didn't think that I would be very busy, but between the business spotlight the local paper did on me and word of mouth, i've stayed busier than I thought I would. I started unofficially officially out of the basement doing grad hair just after Tynen was born (my youngest) I used to do hair out of a local salon, and decided that I wanted to stay home with the kids. It's been really nice, and the kids have been fantastic. They are pretty independant, and are pretty good about letting me do it. So some of the hair that I did for grad last year I loved. In fact, it was fun and I felt creative, which I love, even though I would never consider myself an artist, or at least not a good one. So I guess this is kind of my way of being an artist. I guess it's kind of a nice way to feel a little more independant and helpful with the finances as that was the hardest thing for me to deal with after we had Taylor.
So between Hairdressing and scrapbooking (which I am also an avid lover of) I create enough creativity. So I thought I would post some pictures of some of the first grad hair that I did!
Virgin Post
Okay, here goes. My name is Kristin and I've decided to do this after I was inspired by my sister in Law Christal, it is a brilliant idea. So, thanks Christal.
I am a hairdresser out of a room in the basement of my house and love it, I have been doing it for 3 years now and can't imagine how it was before. I have three small children. Taylor, my oldest and my girl is 4, Kolby my next, a boy is 3 and Tynen is 9 months. I'm pretty blessed that I am even able to do hairdressing out of my house with kids that small, but they are awesome and pretty good at entertaining themselves. We live in Vulcan, and even though it is a nice small town, we kind of feel like we are too stationary after all the travelling that we have done, (lived in England and Denmark for a year and a half) so it is a little difficult. But the summers are nice, and it is central to two big cities, so that is nice. well, this is an attempt, hopefully it gets better!
